Christian Ponder

Don’t laugh, he should be a consideration.  Ponder has already been considered as a backup by a couple of teams earlier in the season.

Ponder had a chance to be the Seattle Seahawks backup to Russell Wilson before they decided on Austin Davis.  He was also a candidate to be a backup with the Miami Dolphins.

While the thought of Ponder isn’t going to blow anyone away, especially with his career 38 touchdowns and 36 interceptions, again why not make the consideration?

He’s not going to be a long term answer could could be that short term solution to tread water in the desert.  He last played for the 49ers in 2016.

Ponder is also local.  He lives in Phoenix, so it wouldn’t take a lot of effort for either party to at least come in for a tryout and see what he still has.

The Cardinals have nothing to lose by kicking the tires here.  Yes, we know Ponder isn’t likely to lead a team to a Super Bowl but he is serviceable.
