Defensive ends

Chandler Jones – The 2017 NFL sack leader is no longer a linebacker.  He is now a defensive end.  Does this move support more sacks for him in 2018?

While that remains to be seen, it does seem no one, even video game makers take him seriously yet.  He received a lower than expected Madden 19 rating, leaving many fans scratching their heads.

That was a few months ago now.  All he is worried about now is getting at the opposing quarterbacks.  Something tells me he will be just fine.

Markus Golden – Golden came off the PUP list last weekend when the 53-man roster was released.  He, like Jones, move up to be an end from linebacker.  Golden could flourish in the spot.

First however he will need to be healthy enough to play.  So far he has been the only guy not to practice this week ahead of the opener.  No rush.  There will be plenty of time for Golden once he is ready.

Benson Mayowa – He comes over from the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. He played in 14 games last season and 13 in 2016 for the Cowboys.  Last season he had one sack and 21 overall tackles.

Mayowa will be a very good backup for Golden and will likely many reps this Sunday against the Redskins.  If he can prove he can produce consistently, the better as not to rush Golden back.

Jacquies Smith – He played well in the preseason.  He should be a viable backup for Jones.  However if Jones produces like last season, Smith will be spending a lot of time on the sidelines.

Zach Moore – It will be interesting to see what he can produce.  He hasn’t played in a regular season game since 2015 with the Minnesota Vikings.
