Ranking the Arizona Cardinals 14 acquisitions

2. Darius Philon

Some might argue that Philon was the number one pickup of the offseason for the Cardinals.  I wouldn’t argue against that.

Certainly Philon can help right away.  The defensive end, who is just 2, played in all 16 games, starting 13 in 2018.  He had four sacks last season.

He steadily got better over his first four season in the NFL with the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers.  He was drafted out of Arkansas in 2015 and spent two months on injured reserve that season.

Since then however he has been healthy.  He played in 14 games in 2016, then a full 16 games in 2017.  He has 9.5 sacks over his first four seasons.

The Cardinals are getting him at just the right time as he is on his upward trend.  Philon would certainly look great on a line with one of the possible draft picks this year but we will see how that plays out in three weeks.
