Vs. Daniel Jones

Why we want to see it: Most thought Dwayne Haskins would be the second quarterback off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft. But, it didn’t quite work out that way. In a surprise to many, Duke’s Daniel Jones became the second quarterback selected in the draft to the Giants at pick No. 6 overall.

Because Murray and Jones were the first quarterbacks selected in the draft, they will always be tied to each other. That immediately sets up a rivalry that most didn’t expect. Jones is a prototypical, big-bodied quarterback while Murray is an undersized, dual-threat. Their differences in playstyle and similarities as top ten picks will be interesting to track throughout their careers.

When it’ll happen: The Cardinals will travel to New York in week six of next year’s regular season on October 20th. But, the two may not face each other. Currently, Eli Manning is set to start at quarterback as the Giants, unless he has a poor start to the season, it’ll stay that way.

So, we may have to wait until the Cardinals face the NFC East, which will be in 2020. But the two have many opportunities to face each other after if they meet in the playoffs, or if their respective teams finish with the same divisional record. If I were to bet on their first matchup, it would be the one in 2020.
