Punter
Yes, this is a key position for the Cardinals. The Cardinals are only going to gain more victories if they can get decent field position.
Andy Lee has been a godsend for the Cardinals over the past couple of years. Last year he averaged 48.6-yards-per-punt. That was the second highest of his career, second to his 50.9 with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011.
That doesn’t mean the Cardinals don’t want to at least give others a look. Lee is entering his 16th season. We’ve seen other teams go with the young guy over the incumbent veteran.
The other guy in this case is Ryan Winslow, who coincidentally, like Lee, punted at the University of Pittsburgh. Winslow was in training camp with the Chicago Bears in 2018 and was most recently with the San Diego Fleet and Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football (AAF).
Winslow lead the AAF with 47.8-yards-per-punt before the Cardinals signed him at the beginning of May. This should be another one to watch closely.
