#77 Norm Thompson

Thompson played nine seasons in the NFL.  The first six of them from 1971-1976 were with the Cardinals in St. Louis.

The cornerback made himself known to opponents quite often.  He had 22 interceptions during his six seasons in St. Louis.  Amazingly, one of those seasons in 1973, Thompson did not record an interception.

He had four interceptions in his rookie season, after being drafted in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft out of the University of Utah.  His career-high was in 1975 with seven interceptions.

He also had six interceptions in 1974.  In ’74 he had 190-interception return yards, one of which included a touchdown.  He also returned one for a touchdown in ’75.

He had his lone fumble return for a touchdown in 1972.  However it was his interceptions that put him on the map.  He played 10 seasons in the NFL, three of which landed him in the top 10.
