Chris Jones

Jones likely earned himself a starting spot opposite Tramaine Brock when the season starts in two weeks.  He had five tackles on Saturday against the Vikings.

He could share time with rookie Byron Murphy though. Murphy looked good but if there was any doubt Jones should be the guy right now, that should be put to rest.

Don’t expect to see Jones on the field Thursday night in Denver.  With the loss of Patrick Peterson for the first six weeks and Robert Alford for at least that long or more, Jones needs to be protected.  There is no need to see more of him.

Even if Peterson and Alford were preparing to play week one, Jones made this team.  He will now have to go out and take it to another level to show he deserves to stay after Peterson and Alford return.

Look to see a lot of Deatrick Nichols and Nate Brooks on Thursday night.  Brandon Williams missed the game on Saturday, so we will see if he is able to play on Thursday or not.
