Week 3: September 22nd vs. Carolina Panthers

TV: FOX 1:05 PM

The Cardinals return home after one week away from State Farm Stadium.  They will play the Panthers for the first time in three seasons and in Glendale for the first time since 2013.

Last time: The Cardinals went to Charlotte and lost 30-20.  It was a disappointing loss for the Cardinals as it was a game they easily could have won.  They lost left tackle Jared Veldheer for the season that day.

Key players: The big question here will be the health of Panthers quarterbacks Cam Newton.  He hurt himself in the preseason but is expected to give it a go in week one.  It could be all water under the bridge by the time the Panthers make their way west in week three.

The Cardinals will have to watch for the mobility of Newton and will have to find a way to stop running back Christian McCaffrey.  He, like Cardinals running back David Johnson, is very versatile running and catching the ball.

McCaffrey is a real threat.  It will be the Cardinals first time facing him.  It will be interesting to see how they defend him.

Prediction: Cardinals 27 Panthers 23

Both teams could go back and forth this day.  The Panthers scored on 6 points the last time they visited in 2013.  That was Cam Newton’s debut.  This Panthers offense is much better.  Don’t be surprised if this score prediction is tame compared to the actual result.
