Trent Sherfield

Early on someone who came up huge was receiver Trent Sherfield.  After such a great preseason to make the 53-man roster, he came through on special teams on Sunday afternoon.

He was one of the reasons the game stayed within reach early on when the rest of the team was struggling for the most part.  He didn’t end up with a reception on Sunday but so what?

He had a great tackle on a punt return early on.  He also made another great play on a punt return later in the game.

His energy helped keep the Lions pinned in their territory when the teams were trying to keep one another out of decent field position.  Even if he doesn’t catch a ball all season, right here is value that can’t be overstated.

Now, certainly it would be great to see Sherfield contribute on offense.  He will get his shot.  There are just so many weapons on offense right now, hopefully they find a way to work him in more.
