Zane Gonzalez

If it weren’t for Cardinals kicker Zane Gonzalez, the Cardinals wouldn’t have been in a position to win either game in weeks 1 or 2.  After hitting 4-4 field goals in week 1 against the Detroit Lions, he followed that up with a 3-3 on Sunday against the Ravens.

While touchdowns are preferred, having a reliable kicker who can keep their team in the game is so very important, especially to a team as young as the Cardinals.  He is just 1-1 on extra points however as the Cardinals have gone for 2 points in two out of three touchdowns so far.

There was worry in camp by some fans who thought it was a mistake Gonzalez did not have any competition, especially after having a rough Red-White scrimmage early in camp.  However he is following up his excellent preseason with a 7-7 start to the regular season.

Next. Cardinals make too many mistakes in loss to Ravens. dark

Let’s hope we see more extra points over the coming weeks than we do field goals.  That likely means some wins on the board for the Cardinals.
