The long wait

It’s a gut feeling if he was going to retire, he would have already. Now, he did say about a year or so ago that if he did retire, there wasn’t going to be any huge fanfare. He’d just step away.

Certainly, that is one of the options still on the table, but would he retire now? The Valley is riding high on the Suns. Cardinals training camp opens in less than three weeks.

Now, he likely waits until after camp starts before he gives his decision one way or another. At this point of his career, he just needs some practice time to stay in shape, which is another question mark, but in Fitz we trust.

Fitz could wait right up until the season starts. However, it is hard to see him waiting much past the end of August. He has to know this will be a topic of discussion almost daily until the decision is made.

For all we know, he has already made the decision and is just waiting for the right time to announce it. It’s been over six months since the Cardinals last played. His body has already given him his answer. Now we just have to wait for his mind to catch up.
