The Cardinals have already said that rookie Zaven Collins is a starter. This was before camp even started.  Second-year player Isaiah Simmons is right there next to him.

They also said that Jordan Hicks would have no chance to start. However, he currently sits second on the depth chart behind Collins. It has been documented how well he’s performed in camp so far.

That sounds like a guy ready to show he can start and play well instead of a guy that could have folded and didn’t give it his all, given what general manager Steve Keim told him a couple of weeks ago.

Football can be funny like that sometimes. Tanner Vallejo and Ezekiel Turner also are in the mix listed second and third on the depth chart, respectively.

It’s a nice problem to have if all five of these guys can come in at any time and be ready when called upon. However, it’s one thing to show up in practice and another to see if it translates to game performance, preseason or not.
