Amongst all the dire needs for the Arizona Cardinals this offseason, there is no question that quarterback will be the biggest of them all.
With Kyler Murray almost guaranteed to be in new threads next season, the Cardinals will need to find their new signal caller either through free agency, trade, or the NFL draft.
Based on what the markets look like, it seems more likely than not that Arizona will sign a free agent to be QB No. 1 in 2026. Daniel Jones, Aaron Rodgers, and Malik Willis headline that class of players.
Regarding the NFL Draft, there isn’t that deep a class aside from Fernando Mendoza. You have to go all the way to the late first round and beyond to find a quarterback worthy of being selected that high.
However, the Cardinals conducted an interview with University of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson at the combine this weekend. What he said should give the front office the incentive to add Simpson to their watchlist.
“I would love to be a Cardinal. I think that they’re a great organization. They got a young team, and I would be super blessed to play for them.”

In his junior season with the Crimson Tide, Simpson completed 305-of-473 pass attempts for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns. He helped Alabama reach the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals and earn a Rose Bowl appearance.
The Cardinals are in a phase where they can try new things, and why not take on a rookie contract? Not to mention, he already has a core group of weapons in place.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Cardinals follow, but it is comforting to know that the front office is looking at this from multiple angles.
