The Cardinals made the shocking decision to select a quarterback in the third round of the NFL Draft this past April, bringing in the University of Miami’s Carson Beck to fill a QB room that already contained Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew.

For a roster that has more flaws than none, you’d think that Monti Ossenfort would go in a different direction in the third round to better a struggling roster. But he had his eyes set on selecting another quarterback, adding more competition to what was already going to be a training camp battle between Brissett and Minshew.

OTA’s took place in May, and Jacoby Brissett was not in attendance. In fact, he missed the entirety of the team event, which left fans with questions about what seemed to be the issue with the 33-year-old journeyman.

It was then reported that Brissett wanted to have his contract reworked.

With mandatory mini camps coming up this week, and the possibility of getting fined for no-showing, it was reported that Brissett would be back with the team, but no deal would be put in place at the moment.

2025 was a rough season for the Cardinals, as they only won three games. But Brissett unlocked the passing offense, making it more dynamic, as well as enabling solid performances from lesser-known guys in the lineup. Michael Wilson was one of those players, as the third-year wide receiver eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time in his career.

Brissett being back in the cards changes the dynamic, and it will be interesting to see how this training camp battle pans out.
