Would sure be controversial.

Given the state of the Cardinals roster headed into the 2026 season, it is not a surprise to say that the quarterback of the future isn’t on the roster at the moment.

With a quarterback room that consists of two journeymen in Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew), as well as a rookie third-round pick in Carson Beck out of the University of Miami with no pro experience, it seems likely that Arizona will be in the running for a top three pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

A quarterback class that contains the talents of Dante Moore (Oregon) and Arch Manning (Texas), general manager Monti Ossenfort is definitely keeping an eye on those two top-tier prospects.

But there is one more gunslinger that could pop up on Ossenfort’s radar who has been in the news for the wrong reasons. We’re talking about now former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby.

Sorsby, 22, was recently granted a temporaty injunction from a Texas State Court, allowing him to avoid a permanent ban from the NCAA for gambling-related reasons. Sorsby reportedly placed over 9,000 bets that totalled around $90,000, all on NCAA sporting events.

Sorsby later declared for the NFL supplemental draft in hopes of being drafted despite not being eligible.

Throwing for 2,8000 yards and 27 touchdowns with the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2025, Sorsby showed that he had the potential to be something great. But with the eligibility questionmarks, we will not be able to see that in 2026.

However, if the talent is there, could the Cardinals be in on Sorsby?
