As the 2024 season came to a close, it was clear that the Arizona Cardinals had something special, despite falling short of the playoffs once again. That special something came in the form of tight end Trey McBride, who finished the season with 111 catches and 1,146 yards, along with two touchdowns.

An excellent season to say the least, especially for someone in only their second year of pro ball. However, one thing stood out, and it was the fact that McBride was unable to find the end zone as much as people hoped, only finding paydirt twice, and both times coming in the team’s final two games.

The excellent season resulted in a massive payday for McBride, who signed a four-year, $76 million contract extension to remain in Arizona for years to come. To say that money was earned is an understatement, as McBride blossomed into the league’s best tight end in 2025.

Appearing in all 17 games, McBride broke the NFL record for most receptions by a tight end with 126. McBride logged 1,239 yards and found the end zone 11 times. A season so special, he earned the first All-Pro selection of his young career.

With uncertainty at quarterback, questions remain about how McBride will respond in 2026. The truth is, if it is Jacoby Brissett under center, it would not be a shock to see the 26-year-old build off of the 1200+ yard effort and set a new career high for himself.

He’s just that versatile, and it would not be a shock if he were to eclipse 1400 yards in what will be a down season for the Cardinals.
