2.) Seattle has defensive-minded head coach with no star QB

The NFL is an offensive-heavy league. If you don’t have an above average offense, you won’t make any significant impact during the season. The Seattle Seahawks are out of the Pete Carroll era and will have Mike MacDonald lead the Seahawks in 2024. MacDonald comes from the Baltimore Ravens, who has always had one of the best defenses in the league. When adding a defensive-minded head coach, there is a high possibility that an offense will be limited if there is no star quarterback.

The Seahawks not only have a rookie defensive head coach, but Geno Smith, while he has revamped his career, is not the future of the Seahawks at quarterback. Seattle traded for Sam Howell from the Washington Commanders but he was a turnover machine last year. For right now, the Cardinals are not at the bottom but they are certainly nowhere near the top. Smith is more of a high candidate to be released next offseason if he does not surprise the NFL once again.
