The End of an Era – Scott Player Cut from Roster

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

That’s right fans, the Arizona Cardinals announced yesterday that they were releasing last of the old school football players, P Scott Player, after a 9 year stint with the club. Was it the bleaching of the facial hair that did him in? Or was it the old school football helmet he would always sport every Sunday? We can’t be sure, but Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt had these words to offer after the team announced their decision to let Player go:
“It’s never easy to part ways with a veteran who has contributed to the team for as long [...]

One More To Go…..

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

With the start of the regular season less than two weeks away, the Arizona Cardinals want to see some big things out of the backups in their preseason finale against the Denver Broncos tomorrow night. The starters are only set to play two series at most, as this game is all about helping the coaching staff determine the final roster.
On Monday, the Cards cut a total of 8 players. These cuts by the team added to the 3 players that have already been placed on injured reserve, bringing the total number of players cut or off the roster [...]

Bucs Blog – a new addition to the network

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We’re a site for Arizona Cardinals fans, so why should we care about a new site dedicated to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Because I’m a football fan first, and I know that every team page we have in our network puts out a quality product.

That being said, check out our newest addition to the fan-sided-blogging network: The Pewter Plank – for all the info you would ever need on the Bucs (not that you would ever need any, GO CARDS!!)

It’s official – Pace gets the nod

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Coach Whisenhunt made it official Monday afternoon when he named OLB Calvin Pace as the starter for the 2007 season over teammate Darryl Blackstock according to the team’s official site. Pace will fill in for the injured Chike Okeafor at the strong-side linebacker position, and was selected over Blackstock because of his size and potential to be a force against the run. At 6′4″ 270lbs, he provides a larger obstacle than the 6′3″ 244lbs Blackstock.

Is this the right move? Well they are the coaches, not me, so it doesn’t really matter what I say. Whisenhunt cited [...]

Green stepping up to starting role

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Last season, Arizona Cardinals’ cornerback Eric Green looked a bit overwhelmed at times. A solid tackler, his coverage skills were not quite up to the task, as evidenced by his drubbing at the hands of WR Terrell Owens during the Dallas game last year. Some questioned his ability to play the CB position, and much like his teammate Antrel Rolle, many thought Green might be better suited at the Free Safety position or as a special teamer.
Now in his third year as a pro, the former Virginia Tech standout appears to have upped his game in the off-season [...]

Looks like we’re in for a season full of shootouts!

33 – 31: the San Diego Chargers take the win over the Arizona Cardinals with a last second field goal.
Silver lining?……
The offense went shot for shot, blow for blow, punch for punch with one of the most potent offensive teams in the league and hung in there until the very end. The Cards’ first team offensive unit (minus RB Edgerrin James who sat voluntarily) looked awesome! QB Matt Leinart put on another impressive display with a 10 for 16, 196 yard, 1 TD effort in two quarters of play. WR Anquan Boldin looked unstoppable gathering [...]

Cards break camp…but a few question marks remain

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Arizona Cardinals wrapped up their four week stay in Flagstaff on Thursday, heading back to Glendale with a lot of things accomplished, but with a few lingering questions for Coach Whisenhunt to answer before the regular season kicks off on September 10 versus the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.
With two games remaining in the preseason, the coaching staff looks to solidify the starting line up by the end of this Saturday’s matchup against the San Diego Chargers. The starters will play the entire first half, and the third and fourth stringers will fight for the final [...]

Leinart shut me up, didn’t he…..

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Last week I said that he looked rushed, and maybe the pressure was getting to him. I criticized his checkdowns and throws on the field……..

Well I think it’s safe to say that Matt Leinart is back on track! In an outstanding performance against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Leinart went 7 – 7 for 70 yards and a touchdown with a passer rating of 147.9; that’s pretty outstanding! The big difference from last Saturday to this past Saturday was that Leinart looked comfortable, he looked poised and he looked like a polished veteran.
The starting offensive line continued [...]

View from the Endzone: Not Just a Cheerleader!

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Our very own Bari is back to make a few things very clear, she is more than just a cheerleader!
________________________________________________________________
People always ask “So, why did you retire?” as if cheerleading was a full time job for me. Now this is not their fault that they think being an NFL Cheerleader is a full time gig, it is merely just a misconception that I want to educate all of you Arizona Cardinals fans on!!
Being an NFL Cheerleader takes a lot of time and commitment, but I would say one of the biggest issues that NFL cheerleaders face at first is [...]

Leinart looks to rebound vs. Texans

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Cardinals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has stated several times that he is very pleased with the things he’s seen from the Cards thus far. The team has made great strides and ran the ball well in the opener against Oakland last week. But what was really surprising (and unexpected) was the shaky start to the Cards air attack in which second year QB Matt Leinart went 1 – 4 with on 13 yards passing. He eventually finished 5 for 11 for 50 yards and showed some definate zip on the ball during his last series, but it was [...]
