Injuries

The Arizona Cardinals haven’t had any major injuries yet but that’s not to say the talk of them isn’t already old.  We know what the recurring theme was last season and it got old and tiring very fast.  It was almost to the point you expected someone to have to leave a game or worse be out for awhile with an injury every week.

So far in the first three practices, the Cardinals have had to deal with several hamstring injuries.  Rookie linebacker Shaq Riddick, running backs David Johnson and Andre Ellington, and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon have all suffered from hamstring issues in these first few days.  The worst of it seems to be Riddick, who coach Bruce Arians described as having a grade 2 hamstring tear and will miss some time.

Also tight end Darren Fells has had to deal with cramps.  Those cramps kept Fells from fully participating in practice on Sunday.  Weatherspoon, Johnson and Ellington sat out of practice Monday.  Also missing time already is linebacker Daryl Sharpton who has a hip flexor, which the Cardinals have said it not serious.

Arians said it is up to these guys to remain in shape and be ready for camp when they aren’t around the team in the offseason.  He isn’t the one getting these guys hurt.  He’s right, you wonder just how much some of these guys really took care in their offtime?  It was interesting to see on Monday the number of guys coming out early and stretching out.  I think the message has been received.
