Arizona Cardinals: Top 5 additions
By Scott Allen
3. Evan Boehm
Surprisingly the center position may end up being one of the more interesting camp battles this season. We all thought that would be the case last year as well. To a point it was but this time it involves a rookie draft pick.
Boehm is thought by many to be ready to compete for a starting center job in his rookie season. Given coach Bruce Arians thoughts on playing rookies, that should say something.
Last season we saw A.Q. Shipley and Ted Larsen fail to grab the starting center spot in their competition, so the Cardinals brought back Lyle Sendlein. Shipley is part of the equation again this season. Can Boehm push for the spot? Absolutely. Right now though common sense says Boehm starts as a backup but things can always change.
Boehm’s SEC experience will be a help as well. Having gone up against some of the most talented young players in the country only can help now. This one we will have to watch closely as the next six weeks progress.
