5. Justin Bethel interception return for touchdown

The season started off with a bang.  On the Cardinals first defensive possession of the season, they hit pay dirt.

The Cardinals had just failed to score on their first offensive possession and Detroit was in scoring position. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford didn’t disappoint.

He threw a pass into Cardinals cornerback Justin Bethel’s hands and he went scooting 82-yards for the pick-six.  It was better than anything Bethel had done the previous season.

Bethel was dubbed a failure-in-progress by then head coach Bruce Arians late in the 2016 season. His interception return for touchdown to start off the 2017 season made it seem he was progressing for the better.

Unfortunately this was the best play he made all season.  He didn’t regress to 2016 levels but he still didn’t have the type of breakout season many thought would happen, especially after this play.

Now Bethel will be on the bubble as to whether he will return in 2018 or not.  This may have been the last great play we see him make in Arizona.
