2. Overtime interception – 2017

His moments may have been fewer and farther between over the last couple of years thanks to a season-ending injury in December of 2015 but he had one of the bigger defensive moments for the 2017 Cardinals team.  It happened on the road at the Indianapolis Colts.

it is safe to say that 2017 was a very disappointing season for both Mathieu and the Cardinals as a whole.  This was a game in Indianapolis that went to overtime thanks to the fight in the Cardinals.

The Cardinals struggled to beat a down Colts team.  When the Colts won the overtime toss, they got the ball first.  Fans were nervous to see the team lose in a game they easily should have won.

Mathieu though was not going to let things drag out.  On the first play of the overtime period, Mathieu stepped in front of a Jacoby Brissett pass and returned it 15-yards to put the Cardinals in scoring position to win the game 16-13.
