Left Guards

Mike Iupati

It is great to see Iupati back and in true form.  In the little time he played this preseason, he looked great.  He looked like the guy the Cardinals signed in free agency three years ago when Iupati was considered the fourth best overall free agent in the NFL.

Iupati has himself been very inconsistent over the past couple of years.  Much of that again, due to the recurring theme of injury.

However he opened some beautiful holes for running back David Johnson in the preseason.  He looks ready to help this rushing attack be one of the best in the NFL.

His pass protection is still just alright.  He’s more of a run blocking guard but that’s fine.  As long as he can help keep Bradford upright most of the time, that’s fine.

John Vujnovich

The Cardinals just picked him up on Sunday off of waivers from the Indianapolis Colts.  He started all 16 games for the Colts last season.

He replaces Will Holden, who initially made it onto the 53-man roster on Saturday.  However the Cardinals likely felt they needed more of a veteran presence backing Iupati up.
