Linebacker Depth

Another area of concern heading into the offseason.  The Cardinals dumped arguably their best linebacker from a season ago to chase some aging veterans.

Josh Bynes was surprisingly removed from the equation for 2019.  Insert former Baltimore Ravens and Arizona State Sun Devil Terrell Suggs.

The Cardinals passed on Suggs in the 2003 draft but finally got him after 16 seasons in the NFL.  He may have only two years in Arizona at best.  Take what you can get I guess?

They also went out and quickly snatched up Brooks Reed after the Atlanta Falcons released him shortly after the conclusion of the Super Bowl.  He’s been on some predictions, including here, that he may not be long for this roster.

He too went on the PUP list last week ahead of the open of camp.  It will be interesting to see what he can contribute this preseason.

Jordan Hicks comes over from the Philadelphia Eagles but he’s been oft injured as well.  We’ll see if he can add anything to the linebacking core.

Good news is Chandler Jones moves back a bit since the Cardinals are going back to a 3-4 defense.  He will be more of a rusher of course however.  We all know just how good he is.
