The Cincinnati Bengals came oh so close to being the surprise of the day in the NFL. They held a 17-14 lead in the third quarter at the Seattle Seahawks of all places.
However the Seahawks were too much at home, eventually pulling it out 21-20. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had a nice afternoon. He had 2 touchdowns and no interceptions on 35-51 for 418-yards.
There was little running game to speak of as the Bengals only rushed for 34-yards. But second-year receiver John Ross had a big day with 7 receptions for 158-yards and two touchdowns.
Somehow the Bengals couldn’t finish the deal. However it should give them some hope. Maybe they aren’t as bad as some expected them to be.
We should get to know a little more about that in week 2 as they go home to face the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers come in 1-0 but with some uncertain expectations as well, so should be a fun one.
