Kenyan Drake

Welcome to Arizona Kenyan Drake!  His first run from scrimmage for the Cardinals was a 36-yard run left on the first offensive play of the game.

It put the Cardinals in scoring range immediately.  The long run, coupled with a penalty, and then ending with a Drake 4-yard touchdown run, gave us a quick sense of hope for what was to come the rest of the evening.

For his first effort in Arizona, he ended with 110-yards rushing on 15 carries.  That is a 7.3-yard average per carry.

While Drake definitely had us temporarily forgetting about the running woes with the injuries to Chase Edmonds and David Johnson, it does set up questions about the running game in the near future.

Drake’s performance means the Cardinals may not have to rush either Edmonds or Johnson back, although getting them both back healthy would do wonders for the offense.  Johnson was close to playing Thursday night but ultimately was held out.
