Trent Sherfield

Sherfield was one of the offensive bright spots early on back in 2018.  He surprised many coming out of training camp and the preseason.  He deserved one of the team’s 53 active roster spots.

He caught 19 passes in his rookie season and had a touchdown.  However last season his production dropped even further.

He was caught in a numbers game, much like Cooper.  There were just no opportunities for him given the rookie receivers and the other vets the team has.

The Cardinals had difficulty getting guys like Keesean Johnson and Andy Isabella going but both seemed to be more a part of the game plan at one time or another last season. With Christian Kirk missing time, he could have had an opportunity to shine but he didn’t.

He caught all of 4 passes last season.  That productivity spells the end of the road in Arizona for Sherfield.  About the only way we can see him hanging around for 2020 is if something happens to one of the trio of Johnson, Isabella, or Hakeem Butler who missed all of last season on IR.
