The Cardinals just addressed a need that was seldom thought about during this offseason; it just didn’t come up as much as other positions on the roster.

When you ponder what Arizona needed in 2026, a lot of things come to mind. Quarterback, running back, and safety all quickly became the biggest needs of the offseason. General manager Monti Ossenfort did a solid job patching up those holes.

First off, the team released Kyler Murray, and it seems as if a quarterback competition between Gardner Minshew and Jacoby Brissett is inevitable. The Cardinals also patched up the hole at running back by signing Tyler Allgeier, pairing him up with James Conner.

When you really think about it, the Cardinals needed someone who could give them good field position, specifically in the return game.

When we tell you that Ossenfort hit on his recent signing, we are being 100% honest. Cardinals fans should be psyched with who was brought in.

Cardinals Sign Devin Duvernay To A One-Year Deal

The former Chicago Bear was brought in on a one-year, $2.5 million contract in hopes of providing the Cardinals with a spark in the special teams department.

Duvernay didn’t have any house calls in 2025, but he did set the Bears up with great field position by consistently taking returns past the 30-yard line.

One of his biggest moments came against the Minnesota Vikings, where he set Caleb Williams up to lead the Bears on a game-winning drive capped off by a Cairo Santos field goal as time expired.

He will now have the opportunity to do that in Arizona, and considering how much the team is paying him, this is an A+ deal by Ossenfort and the front office.
