The Cardinals have made a flurry of moves before and during free agency that will improve the roster ahead of the 2026 season, including three different positions on offense.
First, Arizona sured up its running back room by bringing in Tyler Allgeier and pairing him up with James Conner, who is coming off a season-ending foot injury that he sustained in Week 3 of the season.
The Cardinals also bolstered the interior of their offensive line, adding Isaac Seumalo on a three-year contract.
Finally, the team agreed to terms with Gardner Minshew on a one-year deal, which points to the Cardinals holding a quarterback competition in training camp.

Jacoby Brissett started for the majority of 2025 after Kyler Murray, who was released and later signed with the Minnesota Vikings, went down with a foot injury in Week 5. In his time as the starter, Brissett was not afraid to sling it downfield, and the passing offense actually improved. Despite the 1–11 record in his time as the starter, Brissett racked up 3,366 yards and 23 touchdown passes.
General manager Monti Ossenfort admitted that Brissett’s play could land him the starting job in 2026, giving props to the 33-year-old journeyman.
“Let me remind you that Jacoby Brissett unlocked our offense last year.” — Ossenfort
Do the Cardinals have their plans already laid out? Or is this just smoke? Nonetheless, this will make for a very interesting training camp story.
Will there still be a QB competition? Probably, but this quote from Ossenfort could indicate that he and new head coach Mike LaFleur may already be leaning in a favorable direction.
It will be intriguing to see how this plays out.
