NFL.com Has Cardinals Reaching For The Moon With Pick No. 3

Charles Davis may be out of his mind on this one.

Everyone sees a three-win season as a bad season, a lost season, for that matter. But for the Arizona Cardinals, who hit that feat in 2025, this provided a massive opportunity to add building blocks that would put the franchise back on track.

The Cardinals saw the offense take great strides under Jacoby Brissett, who started the majority of the season in place of Kyler Murray, who saw his season end after a foot injury sustained in Week 5.

The passing offense looked to be unlocked, as not only did Trey McBride put up the best end-of-season stat line for tight ends, but Michael Wilson made big strides as a potential wide receiver No. 1 in his third year of pro action.

Arizona holds the No. 3, and they could go in any direction they want. Whether that be offensive line, defense, or even quarterback, the door is open for general manager Monti Ossenfort to make the splash of his choice.

However, Charles Davis of NFL.com projects the Cardinals to reach for the moon to address a need that, at the moment, doesn’t seem too big.

Arizona already has Jacoby Brissett, and they bolstered the quarterback room by signing Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal worth around $5 million. But Davis doesn’t think that this is the end of the line for Ossenfort and the Cardinals at the position, as he believes they could reach for the second-best QB prospect available with their top selection.

Yes, Davis believes the Cardinals will select Ty Simpson from Alabama, stating the following:

“Last year, I opined in one of my early mocks that Jaxson Dart would go to the Giants with the third overall pick, but I didn't stick with the pairing as the process unfolded. Dart, of course, ultimately ended up with New York after Big Blue traded back into the first round and selected the quarterback at No. 25. This year, I think Simpson ends up with the Cardinals, even if this is not the spot where they pick him.” — Charles Davis

Will this be the case this upcoming April? We can only wait and see.
