The Arizona Cardinals made a few moves today.
One fully expected, one you knew would be coming, and one out of the blue, at least in my eyes.
Gone are running back Edgerrin James, as expected. After drafting running back Chris “Beanie” Wells on Saturday, James’ release you knew would come sooner rather than later. Also released on Tuesday was cornerback Rod Hood. He was just biding his time unfortunately. He wasn’t all that bad, however there are others who probably can get the job done better right now.
The move that surprised me the most was the release of linebacker Travis [...]

The Arizona Cardinals selected safety Rashad Johnson from Alabama in this morning’s third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
So what do we know about Johnson. He is a former walk-on. He has 11 interceptions over the past two seasons. He has a quick reaction to the ball, however his size would be one concern at 5′11″. He also needs to bulk up just a little. He was a unanimous choice for the first-team All-SEC in 2008. That is saying something considering the conference. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. says he plays like a first rounder.
Overall this may end up being the [...]
NFL Draft Day One Complete
Day one of the 2009 NFL Draft is complete. The Arizona Cardinals had one pick in each of the first two rounds. In round one, they picked up running back Chris “Beanie” Wells from Ohio State. In round two, they picked up outside linebacker Cody Brown out of Connecticut. A little bit of a surprise the Cards went OLB in round two given the needs elsewhere, but it’s not a complete shock. The Cards did address the RB need in round one.
Perhaps the biggest news of the day though is that Anquan Boldin is still an Arizona Cardinal. The fact [...]
Cards Go to the Wells
The first round pick is in. Chris “Beanie” Wells is the choice. The injury prone running back from Ohio State fell further than many thought he would and fell into the laps of the Arizona Cardinals with the number 31 pick in the first round.
I came out and said I didn’t want him, a lot having to do with injury. Many people will say, well he only missed x amount of games. However, he hasn’t played more than nine in any season. I think the concern over injury was one of the reasons the highly graded [...]

It seems the Cardinals may be leaning towards a running back in the first round of today’s NFL Draft at the 31st pick. Who would you like to see the Cardinals take. The favorite of course is Knowshon Moreno, however he will most likely be long gone by the time number 31 rolls around. Take Moreno out of the equation, who would you like to see the Cardinals pick at running back?
I’ve heard everything today from the Arizona Cardinals stepping up the price on Anquan Boldin, because they hold all the cards, to now the Cards, or at least Rod Graves believes, that Boldin will stay in Arizona. Fine, I’m good with that. Just get it over with and give him an extension.
Tomorrow will be a telling day. It was reported by ESPN this afternoon that their sources tell them the Cardinals are willing to part with a second rounder instead of a first since they aren’t getting any takers. However, Graves said this afternoon that they did get an offer [...]
Boldin Drawing Much Interest
Arizona Cardinals (at least for today) receiver Anquan Boldin is generating quite a bit of talk about where he may be headed soon as the NFL Draft is now less than four days away. These are the top three rumors I’ve heard, so let’s break them down.
1. Boldin to the Baltimore Ravens for a first round and third round pick plus a player, possibly Todd Heap or Willis Mcgahee. First of all, I doubt Baltimore would be willing to deal one or both of those players. I did hear Baltimore did not like the Cardinals offer of first and third [...]
