Another Cardinal Leaves the Nest
Two days, two gone. First J.J. Arrington, now Antonio Smith. Antonio Smith signed an offer this afternoon with the Houston Texans. I always felt of the more valuable free agents, he’d be on of the first to go. Smith had a wonderful season and Houston recognized that. Hopefully this means a little more in the tank for the other guys the Cards want to keep. Good Luck Antonio! Scott Allen
Still No Word on Warner
Kurt Warner is still a free agent, although there is word the two sides talked yesterday. Also, azcentral.com is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have shown interest in Warner. If he were to leave the Cardinals for the Niners, that would be yet one more star athlete from Phoenix going to a divisional team. The Arizona Diamondbacks have been good at letting that happen recently. I don’t know how serious the interest is, but as long as Warner is free agent and not under contract with the Cardinals, anything is possible. The Niners have the money, so do the [...]
Score: NFL – 1, Cardinals -0
Well, that was fast. Running Back J.J. Arrington has been snatched up and signed by the Denver Broncos. That place is a virtual re-birth for any running back. Even in the a new system under a new head coach, a running back must still feel like they reached rushing heaven once they have reached Denver. Good luck to him. Scott Allen
Free Agency Frenzy About To Start
We are less than a hour until the NFL feeding frenzy officially can start. Your Arizona Cardinals have money available under the cap but need to take care of their own. Really, take care of their own. After the most successful season in franchise history, it is not time to turn back the clock and become cheap again, bad economy or not. The fans are still behind this team. Do the right thing and the seats will be filled again in 2009. Go over to NFL News and Rumors for the latest free agency updates. Also stay tuned here. Pay The Man
Recession. Forget about it, just pay the man! As of 10pm this evening, Kurt Warner will officially be a free agent. The Arizona Cardinals don’t want to pay Warner the extra $4 million he is asking for. The Cardinals want to give him $10 million per year. Warner is believed to be asking for $14 million a season. Now, in general, I’m not one that believes that just because a player asks for money, he should get it, even if he deserves it. This is different though. Warner has just taken this team to the Super Bowl for the first [...]
As the Cards Turn
Another day, another story. It sounds like Kurt Warner might be close to getting a deal done, although depending on who you believe, it still sounds like they are aways apart on money. The Cards Rod Graves sounded as if he’ll get to Anquan Boldin when he feels like it, they have more important things on the plate. I agree. Boldin is last on the list of priorities. As I’ve been making the case all season, he is under contract. He had a great season and deserves to have his contract looked at, but the Cards still have him for [...]
Cards May Show Up With Full Deck
As the season was drawing to a close, it seemed unlikely that the Cardinals were going to be unable to hang on to their top three guys, Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin, and Karlos Dansby. At the very least, be able to keep two of the three. The Cards were believed not to have enough extra cash available to sign all three. That was then and this is now. Although none of the three deals have been signed, sealed, or delivered, all three now look like strong possibilities for returning in 2009. Kurt Warner stated via text message today that he [...]
Anticlimatic Fine on Steelers’ Holmes
The NFL can’t be serious can they? Sure, if you believe NFL.com, which is reporting that the NFL is planning on fining Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Santonio Holmes $10,000 for his Super Bowl game winning touchdown celebration. Aye aye aye. Why? What’s the point? For the record, he should be fined. However he should have also drawn a penalty flag during the game and assessed a 15 yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. The referees will never tell you they missed the call though. I think the referees, although flag happy at times in the Super Bowl, did a pretty good [...]

Next Hire: Big Play Coordinator
Ok, so let me get this straight. Instead of an “offensive coordinator”, which the Cardinals still plan on hiring, the Cardinals today hired a “passing game coordinator” and a “running game coordinator”. What the heck is that? It sounds like way too much going on there. I’ve never heard of split coordinator jobs like that before. I will say this, Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt must know what he is doing. I will trust the way he is doing things until I question it midway through next season if the Cardinals are struggling. The Cardinals are moving fast like they said, [...]
