Around the NFC West

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, News, NFC West, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As camps open around the NFC West, including the Arizona Cardinals, there is a lot of news as well. St. Louis Rams:  The Rams signed first round draft pick Sam Bradford just in time for the first full squad workout on Saturday.  He signed a huge contract with $50 million guaranteed.  This is great news for Rams fans and all fans of teams who have yet to sign their first rounders.  Well, the great news is he signed, not so sure about all that guaranteed money for a player who has yet to play a down in the NFL and [...]

Cards Camp: Day 1

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Training Camp, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Reporting day today in Flagstaff.  Some happening’s in and around all that is the Arizona Cardinals today. Second round pick Daryl Washington signed his contract today, leaving only first rounder Dan Williams as the only unsigned pick.  His signing I would imagine would come soon since those around his pick have been signed.  He could be slotted right in.  Williams is only one of three draft picks in the entire division not yet signed.  C’mon Cards – let’s get it done! Larry Fitzgerald tweeted that he and Kerry Rhodes hopped a plane to Flagstaff to get to camp on time [...]

Cards Camp 2010 Opens

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Training Camp, Cardinals | COMMENTS: None Yet

Friday is reporting day for the Arizona Cardinals. First practice is on Saturday afternoon in Flagstaff. Only first round pick Dan Williams and second-round pick Daryl Washington are unsigned.  Word is Washington is close. It’s been a long off-season with all the changes that have taken place.  Let’s remember even with all the changes, there is still a lot of familiar faces on the team ready to help lead the Cards to a third straight NFC West divisional title.  That task seems to be tougher this year, but definitely not impossible. Saturday’s practice will be from 3:20-4:45.

Protect Your Wallet from the “Nest”

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, Off-Topic, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Many football fans in this country, many living right here in the Phoenix area and around Arizona, can barely afford to take themselves and their family to one game, much less three.  I am included in that group of fans. As the Arizona Cardinals single-game tickets go on sale this Saturday at ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets, the Cards want you to know not every game is available by itself.  They’ve once again unveiled their “Protect the Nest” plan.  I’m here to tell you to protect your wallet because that means you will be purchasing tickets for three games.  That’s $150 minimum [...]

Meet Cardinals Receiver Andre Roberts

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Training Camp, Cardinals, Fanzone, Player Profile | COMMENTS: None Yet

I had the chance to interview new Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Andre Roberts, the third round draft pick from The Citadel.I asked him some questions about his school, his new team, and advice he’s received so far. Raising Zona: Even though training camp is just about to start, with the mini camps you’ve completed, what differences have you noticed between college and NFL? Roberts: “The size of the play book is a big difference and the speed of everything is definitely different. And everyone is fast.” Raising Zona: With the departure of Anquan Boldin, that moves everyone up one on [...]

Get Ready for Leinart-Anderson Battle

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Training Camp, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the Arizona Cardinals training camp getting going next weekend, the talk will start to heat up on Matt Leinart as the new Cards starting quarterback.  Does Leinart make it through all of camp as the starter?  Will Derek Anderson push him at all in camp?  Will we see some nice surprises from backups John Skelton and Max Hall?  They are all good questions. First, I think Leinart makes it through camp as the starter unless something drastic happens, you know, like he accidentally hyper extends his arm or has a freak ironing accident.  The question will come up a [...]

New Look Cardinals One Week From Camp

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Training Camp, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

The way Nate Davis from the USA Today puts it, the Arizona Cardinals are in trouble this season, heading into the start of training camp next Friday.  Saying because the Cardinals didn’t “adequately fill the vacancies (from the players that departed)”, this is a defining season for Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt.  He also says this is Matt Leinart’s time to prove his first-round worthiness.  That much I will agree with him on.  He goes on to say the Cards are dangerously old at some positions and dangerously young at others.  He fails to identify which ones he considers for both.  Hey, [...]

Matt Leinart On the Red Carpet…..Again

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m still seeing more of Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart on the red carpet than anywhere else these days.  Now, I will give him credit, the video of him on the red carpet below is for his own charity event, however, I really would love to see more of Leinart on the green carpet rather than the red.  To also be fair, it is the players down time before training camp starts next week, however, he should just be taking time to prepare for the upcoming season at this point, in my opinion.  If Leinart thinks he has this in [...]
