Turnovers, Poor Pass Defense, Send Cards to 38-35 Loss
What was the one thing the Arizona Cardinals said they needed to improve on in order to start winning games like the one they lost in Seattle last week? That’s right turnovers. As you know by now, that didn’t work out so well. The Cards turned the ball over four times and the Cards secondary was torched for big play after big play en route to a 38-35 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday. Cards quarterback Max Hall, who started his third game, threw two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns. That was enough to send him to the [...]
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Max Hall threw three touchdowns in the first half. Unfortunately, two of them were thrown to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Those picks, sent Hall to the sideline and brought back Derek Anderson, which has led to a Tampa Anderson’s presence was immediately felt. He threw a long down field pass to Steve Breaston to set up the potential game-tying score in the second quarter. The Cards eventually failed to score on 4th down. Hall did throw a touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald to start the scoring.
No Trick: Tampa Game Turns from Scary to Treat
When the NFL released the schedule of games back in April, not much about the home schedule for the Arizona Cardinals blew you away. Sure, Dallas would be here on Christmas Day, San Francisco on Monday Night Football in November. It also revealed a Halloween game at home against the Tampa Bay Bucs. At the time, it seemed it would be a scary game in the sense that this game could keep a lot of fans at home and celebrating the big day. Tampa here on Halloween. At the time, it was one of the few excuses you could find [...]
Cards Make Roster Moves Ahead of Game Against Tampa
The O’Brien Schofield era has officially begun. The linebacker, drafted in April by the Arizona Cardinals, has been nursing an injured knee since pre-Senior Bowl practice in January and was activated on Saturday in time for tomorrow’s game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Linebacker Gerald Hayes was removed from the physically unable to perform list and is also expected to play on Sunday. In order to activate both players, the Cards cut wide receiver Onrea Jones and linebacker Alex Hall. Not a real surprise to see Jones or Hall go. Jones was caught up in a numbers game with the [...]
Tampa Bay Bucs Q & A
I had the chance to do a question and answer session with Pat Nohe, lead blogger of Pewterplank.com , Fansided’s Tampa Bay Bucs blog . 1. Do you buy into Tampa head coach Raheem Morris’ self-proclamation that the Bucs are the best team in the NFC No. Not one bit. I think sometimes coaches like to fire up their team or fan base or even just get some publicity for their squad. But I don’t even think Raheem buys into it too much. Keep in mind Tampa just a week earlier got absolutely destroyed by the Saints. A few weeks [...]
Breaston Back in Fold
Arizona Cardinals receiver Steve Breaston will return to action this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Thanks goodness to because we need him in a big way this weekend. Not only will Breaston give the Cards reliability at the position, you also have someone who can help draw attention away from Larry Fitzgerald. As for others, it has not been decided whether linebacker Gerald Hayes will play or not. He has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since training camp. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Friday he has not decided whether or not he will be activated for Sunday’s [...]
For Now, it’s All About the Defense
The Arizona Cardinals may not have much going on offensively these days, however all is not lost. The Cards defense is what has kept the Cards in games the past couple of weeks. There was a time, when you couldn’t even imagine that. Five sacks. That’s how many the Cards defense had against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday. Two of those were by defensive tackle Alan Branch. Nine tackles for losses. Also a number achieved against the Hawks. This shows the Cards defense is attacking at the line of scrimmage and keeping the opponent from gaining any ground. Early in [...]
Best in NFC in Arizona This Weekend? I Think Not
Although I wish that was true of your Arizona Cardinals, the self-proclaimed “best team in the NFC” Tampa Bay Bucs are headed to Arizona this weekend. I don’t think they are the best though, but you have to give it to Tampa Bay’s head coach Raheem Morris for putting it out there. Now his team has to back it up. Personally, I don’t think they do. Here is who I currently believe the top five are in the NFC: 5. Washington Redskins 4. Tampa Bay Bucs 3. Green Bay Packers 2. Atlanta Falcons 1. New York Giants
Five NFL Coaches Quotes You Won’t Hear from Coach Whiz
You can say a lot of things about Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt. He’s too conservative, he doesn’t present a balance attack on offense, he can’t pick the right quarterback to run this team and on and on. One thing you will never hear from the man is a quote that either throws his team under the bus, an individual player under the bus, something negative about another team, or proclaim things that can’t be delivered by promise, basically crazy talk. However, there was plenty of other things overheard this weekend around the NFL from other coaches. I compiled [...]
