Five Things About the Cards in October

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone, Predictions | COMMENTS: None Yet

We are only three week into the season, however the Calender is about to turn to October.  The Arizona Cardinals are getting ready for their trip to play the San Diego Chargers.  What do we know about the Cards heading into the month of October? 1. The Cardinals know how to win in October in the Ken Whisenhunt era.  Since Whiz took over in 2007, the Cards are 6-3 in the month of October, including 3-0 last season. 2. The combined record of the Cards October opponents this season is 7-5. 3. The Cards will play at least two of [...]

The Cardinals Remaining Schedule

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’ve heard some say over the next two days they are ok with the Arizona Cardinals losing the next two weeks with a trip to play the San Diego Chargers and a home game with the New Orleans Saints coming up.  The bye week is after that, so going into the Seattle Seahawks game on October 24th is when the Cards should pay attention again. First of all, why is it ok to assume losses the next two weeks?  Sure, they WILL be tough games.  I get that.  Not many people, including media, have any faith in this team.  Look, [...]

NFL Power Rankings: Week Four

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Power Rankings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Week three for the NFL saw true colors come out for some teams, both for winners and losers.  Here are my rankings for week four. 32. Cleveland Browns – When do the paper bags start coming out? 31. Buffalo Bills – CJ Spiller is for real.  See ya Trent Edwards! 30. Carolina Panthers – How does this team not score more with the RB’s they have? 29. Detroit Lions – Close against Chicago and Philly.  Minnesota always tough for Lions. 28. Tampa Bay Bucs – 2-0 was just a mirage.  You just got whipped by 32 at home. 27. San [...]

Depth at Wide Receiver Now a Concern

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Steve Breaston had surgery on his knee.  Torn meniscus is the report.  Now, he will be out for most likely the next three games.  That includes this weeks game against the San Diego Chargers and next week against the New Orleans Saints.  The bye week actually may come at the right time. The question now is, what do the Arizona Cardinals do, if anything?  I say, do nothing. There will be people that agree and disagree with me.

Inside the Numbers: Cards vs. Raiders

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Gameday, 2010 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Number don’t always tell the story and in some cases on Sunday they did and in some they didn’t in the Arizona Cardinals – Oakland Raiders game. Beanie Wells:  Wells had 14 carries for 75 yards and that was in limited action.  If he had carried the ball 20-25 times, which eventually he will need to do, imagine how much closer this game might not have been?  His 75 yards though DID matter today, even though he did not hit the end zone. Special Teams Turnovers: 2.  That is a number that mattered on Sunday.  You can’t muff two punts.  [...]

Cardinals Overcome Mistakes For Victory

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Gameday, 2010 Season, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m not exactly sure how to describe this game.  In a game neither the Arizona Cardinals nor the Oakland Raiders seemed like they wanted to win at times, the team that made the fewest mistakes ultimately won this game.  At halftime Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt told his team no mistakes in the second half.  That was the only way to win.  Well, his team apparently didn’t listen.  At least the special teams and defense didn’t.  Clearly the coach knew of what he spoke, but the Cards still overcame them and won 24-23.  Each team gave each other plenty of  chances [...]

Cardinals History vs. Raiders Not on Their Side

AUTHOR: | IN: 2010 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tomorrow’s Arizona Cardinals – Oakland Raiders match up will be just the fifth game between the two teams since the Cards moved to Arizona in 1988.  With the recent successes of the Cards and the recent failures of the Raiders, you would think this is an easier call to make as to who will win, even given the current makeup of the Cards roster. Not so fast. In the previous four games Oakland has a 3-1 advantage.  In the three victories, the Raiders have outscored the Cardinals 85-50.  The one loss for the Raiders was in 2001 in overtime, a [...]

Raiders Nation Invades Glendale

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Forget the fact the Oakland Raiders have not been a very good team over the past decade, save for 2002.  Forget they have a nutty owner in Al Davis.  Even forget they had a joke of a coach in Lane Kiffin and the current coaching staff was fighting each other to the point of possible litigation.  All of that certainly describes the sorry state of the Oakland Raiders, but there is one thing that will always exist good or bad.  Raiders Nation. There is no middle ground with the Oakland Raiders.  You either love them or you hate them.  Those [...]

Cardinals Game is a Sellout

AUTHOR: | IN: Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

You can rest easy if you are not going to the game on Sunday. It will be on television.  The Arizona Cardinals, predicted to be on blackout watch pretty much each week this season, has survived week one.  It is the Oakland Raiders they are playing, however I suspect there are a few reasons why this game extended the sellout streak and why I think the streak is still in jeopardy. Why this game is a sellout: It’s the home opener Fans still are on the fence with this team and will give the Cards a chance It’s the Raiders, [...]
