The Best of the NFC West: Quarterbacks
We at raisingzona.com, along with ramblinfan.com, 12thmanrising.com, and ninernoise.com are currently working to come up with the best NFC West players, an “NFC West All-Star Team” if you will. Today we look at the quarterback position. Arizona Cardinals: Matt Leinart Leinart takes over for Kurt Warner and doesn’t have many career stats to back him as an “All-Star”. He’s far from it, but he’s who Arizona has now. He has 14 career TD’s and 20 interceptions. Seattle Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck Hasselbeck’s career has taken a sharp downturn the past couple of seasons thanks to injuries. However he is a 3-time [...]

Cards Receiver Ed Gant Suspended Four Games
The Arizona Cardinals may have just lost one receiver for the fourth receiver on their 2010 roster. Ed Gant, who is fighting for the fourth receiving spot for the upcoming season, has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances. It was a long shot to being with, but now Gant, who will be allowed to play in the preseason, will have to sit out the first four games of the 2010 season. With the emergence of Onrea Jones and rookie Andre Roberts, Gant’s chances of making the team have just grown [...]
Taking the Pulse of the 2010 NFC West
Former San Francisco 49ers running back Roger Craig said this weekend that the 49ers will “annihilate” the NFC West. Is he right? Has the loss of several key players enough to knock the Arizona Cardinals from the top spot? Have the 49ers done enough to catch up? Everyone thought last year that would happen and that was when Kurt Warner was still playing. Has the move to hire Pete Carroll in Seattle not been enough to jolt the struggling franchise awake from its three year drought? Have the St. Louis Rams, ok just kidding, we know the Rams have years [...]
Around the NFC West
Not as much going on this week around the Arizona Cardinals camp, however plenty of news and rumors around other NFC West teams with still a little over a month to go before training camp. St. Louis Rams – The Rams are said to be interested in former BYU running back Harvey Unga, who was the leading rusher in BYU history. He will be working out for as many as 14 teams on July 8th, however St. Louis is considered one of the front runners in this years supplemental draft. San Francisco 49ers – Former 49ers running back Roger Craig [...]

10 Reasons Why the World Cup Could be as Good as the NFL
No, follow me here. Please. Before you run off and bash the World Cup, let’s remember there is nothing much going on here in Arizona right now sports wise. Yes, there is the Mercury. Yes, there are the Dbacks, in spite of us all. Even the Rattlers are playing. The big favorite, football, is still a month and a half away when the Arizona Cardinals get going in Flagstaff at training camp. I’m not going to sit here and praise the World Cup is all so much better than football. Please. NFL football is king. Then baseball. Then basketball, then [...]
It’s All Quiet Until Training Camp Now
OTA’s have ended for the Arizona Cardinals. Now comes the hard part for fans. Waiting for training camp to start at the end of July in Flagstaff. After OTA’s ended officially on Thursday, the next scheduled team event will be reporting day at training camp headquarters at Northern Arizona University. According to Darren Urban from azcardinals.com, most players will be off until that takes place. However, rookies and some younger vets will stay around for conditioning. Hard to believe we are only a little more than a month away from training camp opening. With all that goes on in the [...]
My Cardinals Wish List
Now that OTA’s have ended, it’s time to think about what happens next. So what does happen next? Nothing. Nothing at all, at least until the end of July when training camp in Flagstaff starts. The Arizona Cardinals just ended OTA’s today, with today’s session being canceled by coach Ken Whisenhunt. So, I’ve put together a small wish list of things I would like to see and not see from the Cards until then. First, I do not want to see any pictures of Matt Leinart at a summer beach party drinking out of a 132 oz glass of margarita. [...]
Arizona Cardinals Draft Review
It’s been more than a month since the Arizona Cardinals had their impressive draft, filling the biggest needs they had. They drafted Dan Williams from Tennessee. A surprise but a pleasant one at that. They drafted Daryl Washington from TCU, not the TCU player we expected them to draft. They took a quarterback from Fordham, who the Cards are very high on. They even drafted a guy, O’Brien Schofield, who injured himself in the combine and could miss some considerable time this season. Overall it was a surprising draft, but one that I think Cardinals fans will look back at [...]
