Arizona Cardinals Draft on Hope and a Prayer

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Draft, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone, Video | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Talk about a draft we saw coming out of nowhere.  Well, as far as the Arizona Cardinals themselves are concerned, it all played out the way they wanted.  Of course that’s what they will say publicly.  Public perception though is another thing.  The Cards finished out the 2011 NFL Draft today and by the looks of things overall, the Cards are going to take things into the 2011 season on hope and prayer.

Cardinals Go Tight End In Third Round of 2011 NFL Draft

Ok, that was a little better.  After drafting for want in the second round, the Arizona Cardinals got back to need.  They didn’t necessarily get the best player of course at the position, but they addressed the need. I can’t really be more positive than that right now.

Cards Take Risk With Second Rounder Williams

I’ll be honest.  I was a little disappointed when Andy Dalton went off the board.  Then I knew the Cards might screw this up once Colin Kaepernick went off.  Then, they did screw it up.  Ok, I won’t be too harsh on RB Ryan Williams out of Virginia Tech yet.  He did rush for 1,600 yards – 2 years ago.  Last year was a different story.

Arizona Cardinals Find Gold in First Round of 2011 NFL Draft

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Draft, 2011 Season, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

For months, the discussion was centered around Von Miller and Blaine Gabbert as possible choices for the Arizona Cardinals at number five in the 2011 NFL Draft.  The initial thoughts were Patrick Peterson wouldn’t be available by the time number five came around.  Well, on Thursday night he was around and the Cardinals struck gold.

Patrick Peterson is the Guy at Five!

The Arizona Cardinals did NOT screw this one up.  They took CB Patrick Peterson from LSU with the number five pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.  After a lot of guess work, the pick is in and I love it.  I absolutely love it.  They did themselves right on this night.  Peterson was the best overall on ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr’s board.  The QB position now remains a mystery.  Expect the Cards to take at least one later.

Cards Rumored to be Chasing Marc Bulger

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Season, Breaking News, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

So, where’s the Marc Bulger who replaced Kurt Warner in St. Louis after 2003?  I want him because rumors are Bulger may be the next starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals.  The rumor is there is an “understanding” between the parties, at least if you believe ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli.

Patrick Peterson. Learn the name. You may get to know him real fast as many projections have Peterson going at number five to the Arizona Cardinals in the 2011 NFL Draft, about 45 minutes from now.

NFL Mock Draft – Top 5 Picks

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Draft, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

As we draw closer to draft time, here are my picks for the top five picks of the draft.  I realize there is still a lot of uncertainty, however, based on what I’ve read, heard and my gut intuition, this is how I see the top five playing out in my final NFL Mock Draft.

NFL Draft Live Chat Tomorrow

AUTHOR: | IN: 2011 Draft, Cardinals, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 2011 NFL Draft is now less than 24 hours away, not that I’m keeping count.  However, tomorrow night will be your chance to interact with a network wide live chat during the draft.  Please come back tomorrow during the draft and let’s talk Arizona Cardinals and the NFL. It shouldn’t be too long into the draft before we see what the Cards decide to do.  If they are thinking of trading down their pick, it might happen sooner rather than later, although a lot could depend on how the first four picks go.
